Jambojet has announced that Allan Kilavuka will become its Managing Director and CEO from January 2019. He succeeds Willem Hondius who had been in charge since 2014 when the airline was launched.
Kilavuka has over 23 years of leadership and management experience. He was previously at General Electric (GE), where he was the executive in charge of global operations for sub-Saharan Africa, responsible for strategic leadership in the development of the shared service model and the design of the organization and the structure. He has also held various management positions at GE in Kenya and South Africa.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi and a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychology from the University of Liverpool. He trained at GE’s Crotonville Leadership Institute in New York, USA, in executive leadership, advanced management, and financial management.
Jambojet is a low cost airline owned by Kenya Airways. It currently serves six destinations from JKIA, namely Entebbe, Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Malindi and Ukunda (Diani). It operates Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 Next Generation aircraft and has carried 2,500,000 passengers since its inception.
