(Reuters) – Alabama-based Bradley Arant Boult Cummings has more than doubled its office in Dallas to accommodate its growth in the city, even as some of its large law firms tend to reduce their physical footprint.

Bradley Arant said he is growing after adding nearly 20 lawyers to his staff in the city since 2019, with more likely to come.

Bradley Arant has 550 attorneys in 10 offices and is always looking to expand into the “dynamic legal market” of Dallas, according to Richard Sayles, the managing partner of the firm there.

Many large law firms have recently reduced their office space due to remote working caused by COVID-19 and a desire to reduce overhead costs.

Other prominent law firms that have recently stymied the trend by expanding existing offices include Lowenstein Sandler, who announced Monday that he would increase his footprint in Manhattan.

Bradley Arant’s new office in Dallas’ Fountain Place Tower measures 33,000 square feet, compared to 16,000 square feet at the previous location, and will occupy one and a half floors.

According to Sayles, the firm has decided to build 50 law offices, although there are around 30 lawyers currently working for the firm in Dallas, as it “easily” plans to add 20 more in the next few years.

“There is no limit to what we will do in Dallas. It depends on the opportunity that presents itself, but we are definitely in growth mode, ”Sayles said.

The firm entered the Dallas market in 2019 after acquiring Sayles’ former firm, Sayles Werbner, and ultimately had a total of 12 Dallas attorneys when the office opened.

The 150-year-old firm, which primarily deals with litigation in Dallas, saw an increase in revenue in 2020 – its “best” year ever, according to Sayles – and is on course to beat those numbers this year.

“Dallas has always been for the past 20 years, if not more, a very dynamic business market,” Sayles said. He said that one of the attractive aspects of the city for Bradley Arant is the number of large companies opening and growing there.

The company also has a Texas office in Houston which opened in 2016.
