Season 9 of “The Blacklist” returns with “Between Sleep & Awake”
The blacklist Season 9 returned from the holidays with the episode “Between Sleep & Awake”. Nowadays, the episode takes place on the second anniversary of Liz Keen’s death. Agnes has the idea of ââhaving a “celebration of life” for her mother and Cooper invites Ressler to join but he declines. Instead, Ressler visits the barber and returns to his old clean-shaven self. He also collects purple carnations and visits Liz’s grave for the first time, possibly since her death.
At the same time, the episode returns to Ressler dealing with the aftermath of Liz’s death. In pursuit of Red, Ressler crashed his car. After being released from the hospital, Ressler was given oxycodone for the pain, which is how he relapsed into addiction. Ressler then traveled to the small town of Liberty Falls. The former FBI agent wanted to be left alone, but ended up helping a mother and son who are hiding from an abusive man.
Diego Klattenhoff talks about Ressler’s flashback episode
Actor Diego Klattenhoff has played Donald Ressler from the start. In Season 7, Klattenhoff had a Ressler-focused episode titled âBrothersâ. The episode revisited a traumatic event from Ressler’s childhood.
The blacklist Episode 7 of Season 9 was perhaps an even more emotional episode than âBrothersâ. Klattenhoff portrayed grief and addiction in an episode that focused solely on his character.
âI was very lucky that they gave me an entire episode for myself and to really dig deep into what happened to Ressler in those two years that we left at the end of last season. “Klattenhoff said in an interview with ET Canada.
âThis is what you dream of as an actor,â Klattenhoff continued when asked about the challenges of an episode focused on Ressler’s heartbreak. âTo get those scripts and put all that time into the character and the development and journey of that character and then what it pays off in an episode like this here. So for me it’s been a long time coming. to step into that world. It’s great to also settle down where things are going to go in the future. ”
Will the rest of the cast be back for episode 8 of season 9 of “The Blacklist”?
Because The blacklist Episode 7 of Season 9 focused on Ressler, fans weren’t able to see much of the rest of the crew on âBetween Sleep & Awakeâ. Despite Klattenhoff’s excellent performance, Red and the others definitely miss fans.
Fortunately, viewers will be able to catch up with more of their favorite characters next week. Episode 8, âDr. Razmik Maier,â will air on January 13. Red and the Task Force will be back to take down a new blacklisted criminal.
New episodes of The blacklist premieres Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
