The Family Counseling Center announces a series of organizational updates, including the 2021-2022 Board of Directors and new faces to its leadership team.

The organization voted on the 2021-2022 board of directors at its June meeting, appointing Michael Schaus, owner of WENT Radio, as chairman of the board.

A full list of board members includes: Michael Schaus (Chair), Gail Ryan (Vice-Chair), Mark Finkle (Treasurer), Marilyn Smith (Assistant Treasurer), Denise Walsh (Secretary), Shawn Cleland (Member at Large), Mary-Jo Ferrauilo-Davis, Arthur Steinkritz and Brad Yeardon.

In addition to the new roster of board members, The Family Counseling Center is proud to announce the promotion of two employees to the position of Director.

Sheila Wood is now the Director of Child and Family Services. Wood holds a BS in Human Development and joined the agency in 2020 as Head of the Mobile Crisis Program. She brings over 20 years of work with children and adults with emotional and developmental needs. Wood’s career has encompassed work under the auspices of the New York State Office for the Disabled, the Department of Health, the Bureau of Mental Health, and the Bureau of Children’s Services and to the family in addition to the juvenile justice system.

Justine Maier, LCSW-R has been appointed Clinical Director. Maier joined the agency in 2021 as a clinic supervisor and specializes in working with youth and families who have experienced significant trauma with a focus on family reunification / lifelong planning and justice issues for minors. Maier has experience working in community, residential and outpatient treatment settings.

The Family Counseling Center of Fulton County has served the community since 1976, providing the community with a wide range of high quality, evidence-based social and behavioral support services. The Center is licensed by the New York State Bureau of Mental Health, providing services to children as young as five years old.
