The Lagos state government has said that future developers will be able to get planning information for free.
A statement signed on Friday by Lagos State Ministry of Land and Urban Development Spokesman Mukaila Sanusi said the necessary information could be obtained through the Department of Urban Development. regional planning of the Ministry of Regional Planning and Urban Development.
The statement said that the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Idris Salako, said this on Thursday when presenting a progress report on the Lagos State Electronic Physical Planning System developed by his ministry.
Salako explained that the planning information was important in guiding developers on the assigned use of sites intended for the construction of buildings.
âPlanning information gives information about land use and helps reduce violations in the built environment,â he said.
The commissioner said the state government has always supported planning information as a free social service to the public.
He advised residents of Lagos to take “this important service as a prerequisite for determining whether or not to go ahead with a physical development plan in relation to a given site.”
He said that accessibility to services has consistently improved the ease of doing business of the state while contributing to the achievement of the THEMES agenda to make Lagos a 21st century economy.
âGiven its importance, planning information is seen as an integral part of the ongoing efforts to adopt an electronic physical planning system in the state,â said Salako.
