New Delhi, March 24 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met a delegation of leading Sikh intellectual voices from across the country on Thursday at his official residence here.
The meeting witnessed a free interaction of the Prime Minister with the delegation on various topics such as farmer welfare, youth empowerment, drug free society, national education policy, skills, l employment, technology and the overall development trajectory of Punjab.
The Prime Minister, while expressing his joy to meet the delegation, said that intellectuals are opinion makers in society.
Urging the members of the delegation to engage and educate the public and work to ensure that citizens are properly informed, he stressed the importance of the spirit of unity which acts as the central pillar amid the great and beautiful diversity of our country.
The Prime Minister talked about the importance of education in the mother tongue.
“Efforts are being made to develop professional courses in Indian languages so that higher education in the mother tongue becomes a reality,” the Prime Minister said.
It is learned that the delegation thanked the prime minister for the invitation and said they never imagined the country’s prime minister would engage with them in such an informal setting.
They also appreciated the continuous and multiple measures taken by the Prime Minister for the betterment of the Sikh community.
